The Sunrise SOL (Symbol of Life) was inspired by the Totnes and Lewes Pounds. Back in 2009, Sunrise Off-Grid was the first festival in the world to launch its own ‘Transition’ currency which is still running today. The SOL is exchangable at all traders onsite. Fernhill Farm
We're delighted to be celebrating Sunrise Off Grid on the beautiful grounds of Fernhill Farm, Somerset. Amidst it's magical glades and old oaks, Fernhill is very much on the sustainable path.
"We are developing the farm into a self-sustaining unit with its own supply of homegrown resources - food from our fields and gardens, water harvesting and recycling, wood and wool to keep us warm - and we are ready, as the next step, for the sun to heat our water and the wind to provide our power."
And of course anyone coming to Off Grid has the opportunity to stay in one of the gorgeous eco-barns. They're offering b&b in the dorms, as well as private doubles, and there's even a private cottage to rent that sleeps 12! Alternatively, you could stay in one of the luxury tipis on site. Check out the glorious alternative accomodation options here!
A Farm Shop will be onsite selling bread, homegrown vegetables and many other essentials, 'Fernhill Food' will be selling full meals (both vegetarian and carnivorous) and snacks. Meanwhile, the farm will also be running a bar in the main venue selling local cider and organic ales. We will be making full use of Fernhill's facilities, including the WET System - Water purification System, and will be able to offer access to the woodfuel showers for a small fee.
