Recycled Copper Workshops: from 11am to 1pm each day Maria will be helping you make small items (earrings, key rings, pendants or buttons) from recycled copper that can also be coloured and decorated. At 1.30 each day she will be demonstrating the making of copper bowls with a foot powered forge. All taking place around a 1976 Dodge Somerset Fire Service Truck.

Alternative Technology

Rocket Stove Making Workshop: Demonstrations and Workshops with Steven and Louise

rocket stove makingRocket Stoves are wood burning stoves made from old cooking oil drums. "Forget logs think twigs. With a rocket stove you can boil a kettle or cook a meal with a few little sticks. An inner L shaped stove pipe, and an outer casing with wood ash packed around the inner stove pipe acts as insulation and makes conditions so hot in the stove pipe that the flames burn much more oxygen on the way up creating a fierce flame. We use ours whenever we are out on the road, down the allotment or just want to cook in the garden. Goodbye totally energy inefficient charcoal and gas canisters, hello twigs."

The design takes less than an hour to build, costs approximately ₤1 in materials, and the finished stove is incredibly efficient, due to a heat-insulating construction which means that almost all the energy in the wood is used to directly heat the cooking pan. Come and make your own small, perfectly working, rocket stove from nothing more than two catering sized tins, four baked bean sized tins and some wood ash. Make one or enjoy a cup of tea and discuss them with us!

ian mooreArc Village:

Ian the Wizard and his friends from Arc Village will be demonstrating their Solar powered 250,000 volt Tesla coil, a solar parabolic dish for cooking and running a solar engine, hydrogen breakdown and explosion from water demonstration (yes, they make water explode in front of your eyes!). Wind generators and solar hot water system, regulators and inverters, constant talks and demonstrations of engines that run on any fuel. Wood gas, methane, Tesla turbine, veg oil conversions, hydrogen conversions... and a lot of other fascinating electronic and renewable wizardry. Ian has a fantastic way of explaining science that makes it extremely good fun, and comprehensible to adults and children. See www.arcvillage.org

Charlie Dancey
will be demonstrating his proto-type Push Bug — a sustainably powered bicycle trailer that pushes you and your bike uphill!

Wild Cooking:
Jonathon Rouse from Wild Stoves will be showing you how to harness heat from wood cleanly and efficiently; and demonstrating techniques for improving combustion and heat-transfer efficiency. Wild Stoves will also be selling and demonstrating Rocket Stoves, Dutch Ovens, storm kettles, flint strikers and wood-fired water urns.

Bicycle Workshops: with Milly Peds

Eco-Build

Eco-dc will be giving talks, demonstrations and workshops. Eco-dc have significant experience of experimental projects in both new build and refurbishment, with particular emphasis in moving towards achieving the demanding German PassivHaus standard. Each project has presented new challenges in the use of materials, sustainability, buildability and usability, performance and quality. Check them out at www.eco-dc.co.uk

Natural Building: with Lila Teasdale

Strawbale Building: with Paul Wells

Bristol EcoVillage Project: will be Building Benders from locally sourced wood and reclaimed materials, explaining how to heat and weatherproof them and giving general information on living off-grid. The workshop will include how to pre-bend poles, ways of storing and transporting them and techniques for ensuring structural integrity in inclement weather.

Our workshop leaders are very kindly giving their time for nothing, some of the workshops will be completely free, others will charge a reasonable fee to cover materials

Daniel HarrisDaniel Harris - Creating World Peace
By examining our relationship to our vision of world peace we can begin to realise it in harmony with our most outlandish desires. World peace is so emotive that our blocks and dodges become visible before us. World peace becomes a metaphor for things that we truly want in our lives but seem unobtainable. We can pass beyond and around these blocks by understanding their influence on our decisions and actions. We break through by describing, visioning and sharing our future world desired. We can create holographic visions within ourselves and radiate this energy out to the world.

"Daniel is an excellent group facilitator. His workshop invited me to connect with my vision for a positive future - I found it inspiring. I really liked his approach and I'd strongly recommend his workshops."

says Chris Johnstone, author of Find Your Power.

Signed copies of Daniel's "Little Pocket Guide to World Peace" will be given to all workshop participants. See: www.creatingpeace.org.uk
